KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 13
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal hosted a reception in Kathmandu to mark Korea's National Foundation Day, highlighting the growing bilateral ties and Korea's long-term commitment to Nepal's development.
Welcoming guests, Ambassador Taeyoung Park emphasized Nepal's vast potential in what he called the nation's 'three Hs' - Human resources, Hydropower, and Heritage - and reaffirmed Korea's readiness to partner in realizing these strengths.
He noted that Nepal's young population is its greatest asset, adding that Korea supports vocational training through five facilities established under KOICA Nepal. 'Over 120,000 Nepali workers have worked in Korea through the EPS program on equal terms with Koreans. Their skills and experience can greatly contribute to Nepal's development,' Park said.
He also underlined Korea's contribution to Nepal's hydropower sector, with three plants already built and feasibility studies underway for Nepal's first green hydrogen and fuel cell power plant.
On heritage and tourism, Park highlighted Nepal's rich cultural and natural assets, noting that about 30,000 Korean tourists visit Nepal annually, and that Korea remains committed to promoting climate-friendly tourism and resilient agriculture.
The reception was attended by Vice President of Nepal, ministers, diplomats, senior officials, and members of the Korean community in Nepal.
