KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 16 Mingma Sherpa, a leading entrepreneur and mountaineer from Sankhuwasabha, has resigned from the Nepali Congress, stepping down from his position as a district general convention representative and relinquishing his party membership. In his resignation letter dated today and addressed to the Nepali Congress Central Committee and District Working Committee, Sherpa cited the changing political environment as the reason for his decision. He expressed gratitude to party leaders, members, and cadres for their support during his tenure and emphasized his continued commitment to Nepal's development, federal democratic system, and societal transformation. 'Considering the demands of this changing time, I have decided to proceed differently,' Sherpa wrote, announcing his immediate separation from the party while affirming his commitment to Nepal's development, societal transformation, and loyalty to the federal democratic system. He added that he will continue working for the nation, particularly in the fields of new technology and science. Sherpa is widely recognized in Nepal for his contributions to mountaineering and tourism. He is the chairman of Seven Summit Treks and is the first Nepali and first South Asian to have successfully climbed all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks on his first attempt, setting a new record in mountaineering history. He is regarded as one of the country's most experienced and reliable expedition leaders.
