KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 12 A group of newly formed alternative forces announced the Inclusive, Democratic and Ethical Alternative (IDEA) here today. The Gatisheel Lokatantrik Party led by Dr Dinesh Prasai, the Samabeshi Samajwadi Party-Nepal patron Sunil Babu Pant and the People First Party led by Prashant Singh, announced the IDEA group today in a press meet organised in Kathmandu. According to Singh, the new parties with similar sorts of people who have been scandalous for long have jumped in the election with the motive of 'This is the easiest way of making money.' 'As a result, we decided to remain on the ethical side of history, even if we are not strong,' Singh said. 'Because these fellows have not entered into politics with a good intent. They never had the intention to do politics, but they are contesting this time to reap benefits from politics.' Dr Prasai, seconding Singh, emphasised the importance of structural reforms for Nepal's political stability. 'We need to work on an entrepreneurial society with the support of both private and government sectors to uplift the socio-political and economical strata of the country and motivate youth to do something in the country,' Prasai said. 'In that line we have come together with IDEA to work together for substantial change rather than just political.' Sunil Babu Pant said, 'This election is being portrayed as larger than life and heavily influenced by patriarchy. On the other hand, our party believes in long-term change rather than populist agendas. Democracy should be enjoyed at all levels of government, not just during elections.' He further said, 'Thus, we have come together as an option to all who believe in ethics, democracy, development and inclusive agendas. We at IDEA prioritise compassion and nature-preservation ideology, such as natural resource protection.' Nisha Adhikari, a Gatisheel Loktantrik Party candidate in the Kathmandu Constituency-5, stated, 'We have come together to work on agenda-based politics, such as increasing women's participation, as the current situation of women in elections is extremely low. This is one of the many issues that have brought us together.' Jabed Eqbal Haider, the People First Party's candidate for the Parsa Constituency-1, emphasised the importance of digitising government services to reduce middlemen involvement and corruption. Devendra Bahadur Khatri (Madhu), the Sambabeshi Samajwadi Party's Rupandehi Constituency-2 candidate, stated that the existing policies and structures had suppressed the LGBTIQA+ community and other underprivileged people. 'As a result, to address the existing issues of inclusion of the LGBTIQA+ community and underprivileged people, we have banded together to provide strong representation.'
