RSP sweeps early HoR results, winning 71 of 83 declared seats

KATHMANDU, MARCH 7 Vote counting for the House of Representatives elections is currently underway across the country. According to the Election Commission, results from 83 constituencies have so far been made public. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured 71 seats, followed by the Nepali Congress with 10, the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) with 3, the Nepali Communist Party with 2, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one independent candidate each. Among the declared winners during the reporting period, most RSP candidates have achieved large-margin victories. In Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, Dr. Lekhjung Thapa of RSP won by a margin of 50,379 votes, securing 58,814 votes. His nearest rival, Sushil Gurung of Nepali Congress, received 8,435 votes. Similarly, RSP's Sulabh Kharel won Rupandehi Constituency No. 2 by a margin of 43,689 votes, garnering 56,550 votes against 12,861 votes for his closest competitor, Bishnu Prasad Paudel. In Morang Constituency No. 6, RSP candidate Rubina Acharya secured 55,513 votes, while Dr. Shekhar Koirala of Nepali Congress finished second with 12,850 votes. From Morang-4, RSP's Santosh Rajbamshi won the seat with 40,833 votes, defeating his main rival, Gururaj Ghimire of Nepali Congress, who obtained 12,818 votes. In Dhanusha-3, RSP's Manish Jha emerged victorious with 43,988 votes, while his nearest competitor, Bimalendra Nidhi of Nepali Congress, received 16,652 votes. Finally, in Mahottari-1, Pramod Kumar Mahato of RSP won the election with 34,636 votes, defeating his closest rival, Girirajmani Pokhrel of the Nepali Communist Party, who garnered 12,624 votes.
