Speaking with THT, Bhattarai stated that the formal election activities will conclude with the distribution of certificates and submission of the report to the president's office. 'The programme to distribute certificates to MPs elected via the proportional representation system is scheduled for tomorrow at 11:00am,' Spokesperson Bhattarai told THT. The proportional representation system was used to elect 110 MPs to the House of Representatives. The commission has already decided to award 57 MPs to the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), 20 to the Nepali Congress, 16 to the CPN-UML, nine to the Nepali Communist Party, and four each to the Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP) and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party based on the votes earned by the political parties. Commission Spokesperson Bhattarai said that following the distribution of certificates in the morning, the report on the election of House of Representatives members would be submitted to President Ramchandra Paudel tomorrow afternoon. The deadline to submit the report on the election of House of Representatives members has been set for Thursday at 4:00pm at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas. The commission will submit the names of 165 directly elected MPs and 110 MPs from proportional representation. The RSP won 125 seats through first-pastthe-post (FPTP) and 57 via PR, making it the largest political party in the Parliament. Following the submission of the commission's report, the president will issue a call for the formation of a new government under Article 76 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal. According to Article 76 (1), the head of a parliamentary party with a majority in the House of Representatives will be appointed prime minister by the president, who will also chair the Council of Ministers. A simple majority of 138 seats is required to form a government, but the RSP has the majority of 182 seats. RSP will form the government, which will be led by its senior leader, Balendra (Balen) Shah, who, at 35 years old, is expected to become the youngest prime minister of Nepal. Bhattarai also stated that after submitting the report to President Paudel, a press conference will be held at 5:30pm to provide comprehensive information about the election. The House of Representatives elections were held across the country on March 5, six months after the Gen Z protests of last September. The commission has already released the election results.
