Court extends custody of Oli, Lekhak by two more days

KATHMANDU, APRIL 2 The District Court in Kathmandu has granted permission to the police to continue investigating CPN (UML) Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, extending their custody for an additional two days. Court record keeper Tirtha Raj Bhattarai said the District Court in Kathmandu, on Thursday, extended the remand of Chair Oli and leader Lekhak by two more days for investigation. Earlier, on March 29, Judge Ananda Prasad Shrestha had allowed their custody for five days for investigative purposes. Oli was serving as Prime Minister, while Lekhak was Home Minister during the Gen Z movement in September last year. A high-level commission formed to investigate the loss of lives and property during the movement had recommended that the government proceed with legal action against them under criminal charges. Following the recommendation, Oli and Lekhak were arrested on March 28.
