KATHMANDU, JULY 14 Vehicular movement has resumed along the Kathmandu–Hetauda and Muglin–Narayanghat road sections after authorities lifted restrictions imposed due to heavy rainfall and landslides. In a public notice issued on Tuesday, Nepal Police said both road sections, which had been temporarily closed following incessant rain on July 13, have been reopened for traffic from Tuesday. The two highways were shut on Monday after continuous rainfall triggered landslides, mudslides and falling rocks at several locations, including Tuin Khola and Seti Dobhan along the Narayanghat–Muglin section. The Chitwan District Administration Office had suspended movement of all vehicles on the vital highway following a recommendation from the District Disaster Management Committee, citing the risk of further landslides. Travellers were advised to postpone non-essential journeys and those already on the road were urged to remain in contact with security agencies and carry emergency supplies. Road clearance efforts had been hampered by persistent rainfall, prompting authorities to mobilise security personnel and heavy equipment to remove debris and monitor vulnerable sections. With weather conditions improving and the affected stretches cleared, Nepal Police said traffic has resumed on both the Kathmandu–Hetauda and Muglin–Narayanghat routes. However, motorists have been urged to exercise caution as monsoon rains continue and landslides remain a risk along the highways.
