KATHMANDU: The Utsarga Prakashan Pvt Ltd has urged Press Council Nepal, Federation of Nepalese Journalists, media associations and trade unions to discourage intimidation in media houses. According to the UPPL, some persons claiming to be members of Rajdhani National Daily All Nepal Press and Publication Trade Union (ANPPTU), and Revolutionary Journalists’ Association (RJA) obstructed the distribution of the daily today. “Some persons snatched away the key of vehicle from the driver this morning at Chabahil. The distribution resumed after police intervention,” said a statement issued by the publication. Balram Wagle has claimed that he is the member of ANPPTU while Janma Dev Jaishi and Naresh Gyawali claim their affiliation with RJA. However, the publication statement claims that Jaishi was former reporter of the daily and was suspended for threatening a co-worker. “We told him to apologise but he rejected,” it said. “Wagle was suspended after he produced fake educational certificate when asked for them for official purpose,” stated the statement. “Gyawali, who claims to be the president of the union, is still working in the daily as a junior reporter,” said the publication statement. They were demanding that Wagle and Jaishi be reappointed by nullifying the suspension.
