Tourism activities gradually revive in Mustang

MUSTANG: Tourism activities in Mustang that were severely hit by the April 25 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks are returning to normalcy, with domestic and foreign tourists gradually returning to the district.With aftershocks gradually waning down, the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists is slowly gathering pace, said Chairman of the Hotel Entrepreneurs Association in Mustang, Khagendra Tulachan. It used to receive 1,000 tourists everyday on an average, but it was almost nil following the quake, with many tourists cancelling their hotel bookings. The daily transaction of hotels in the district was worth Rs. 4 million. Tourists from India as well as third world countries have started the visit, said assistant manager at the Om's Homes, Krishna Raj Subedi. A team of 14 Germans and 10 Nepalis arrived here Saturday on a 10-day trip to Upper-Mustang, he said. Hotel bookings have also increased of late.
