KAVRE: Families of earthquake victim, who have received Nepal Red Cross Society’s cash relief, won’t get the government-provided interim relief; if the Home Ministry’s agreement with the Red Cross is anything to go by. In Kavre, around each of the 4,000 families of 10 VDCs will get 15,000 rupees to build temporary shelters. The villages selected for relief are: Balting, Mangaltar, Kharpachowk, Bhimkhori, Chapakhori, Pokharinarayansthan, Sipali, Mechchhe, Katunje and Kanpur. The families, however, won’t get the interim relief of an equal sum from the government as the amount given by Red Cross will be equal to the government relief amount. Red Cross has allocated a fund of 60 million rupees for cash relief to the families of victims in 10 villages. Elsewhere in the district, Red Cross, with assistance from UNICEF, is planning to launch Water Sanitation and Hygiene Monitoring Programme (WaSH) in 14 VDCs.
