KATHMANDU, APRIL 9

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) gained 9.96 points, or 0.36%, on Wednesday, closing at 2,676.28 points by the end of the trading day. This follows a decline of 3.44 points on Tuesday.

In addition to the gain in the benchmark index, the Sensitive Index, which tracks the performance of class 'A' stocks, increased by 0.32%. Similarly, the Float Index, which measures the performance of actively traded shares, also increased by 0.34%.

Despite the modest overall increase, most sectors remained in the green, except for the Banking sector, which saw a slight decline of 0.03%, and the Trading sector, which dropped by 0.40%. The Hotels and Tourism sector led the gainers, with a 2.44% rise, followed by the Investment sector at 1.48% and the Manufacturing and Processing sector at 1.36%. None of the other sectors saw gains above 1%.

In terms of individual stock performance, 154 scrips advanced, while 90 declined, and one remained unchanged.

Despite the positive movement in the NEPSE index, daily turnover declined to Rs 4.48 billion, down from Rs 5.3 billion on Tuesday. A total of 10,073,822 units of shares from 317 companies were traded across 45,094 transactions.

At the close of trading, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 4.446 trillion.
