Jajarkot denizens seek intact mid-west

JAJARKOT, August 9 Jajarkot denizens have come up with an agitation demanding intact mid-west region in the new federal set up. They announced the protest in the wake of an agreement among the leaders of four major forces on the six pradesh federal structure yesterday night. Civil society Jajarkot issued a statement on Sunday and said the federal structure was against the sentiments of the mid-west. The statement focused on delineating the state boundaries by making people the sovereign of the ruling system based on identity and strength. “Surkhet should be the capital of the intact mid-west,” read the press statement released by civil society members of Jajarkot. The statement also urged political leaders to respect the spirit of the 12-point agreement, comprehensive peace accord and sentiment of the interim constitution, as well as demarcation of the federal border. The statement issued by Coordinator Rajendra Bikram Shah appealed to district lawmakers to raise the issue at the Constituent Assembly and join the protest. “If our concerns are not addressed, we will announce series of protests from August 10. Members of civil society, representatives of political parties, teachers, journalists, and right activists will join the protest,” read the statement. According to the new delineation, of the 15 mid-west districts, nine will lie in Pradesh six, five in Pradesh five and Rukum has been split into Pradeshes five and six.
