Yes, federalism is a way to ensure the rights of people and a tool for development, however, it is only possible when our politicians will look above their own interests and address the need of the countrymen. It is a very unfortunate and sad incident for us that in the name of demarcating provinces, violence is taking place. Before the final writing of the Constitution, the authorities concerned should address the demand of the Tharu community as well.

There should not be division in Nepal; it will affect the harmony of the diverse castes and culture the country. There might be the possibility of discrimination due to caste and creed. There should be unity in diversity and the political parties should be unselfish and honest being able to implement the rules strictly and equally to either layman or the man in power.— Sophie Mahat, Grade XII, Campion Academy, Lagankhel
Nepal is a small country and I don’t think it should be divided into several provinces. And if it is being divided, then it should be done in a scientific way — natural resources should be divided equally in each state so that people can use the sources for the development of the state. I find that the delineation of Nepal that already exists with five-development regions is the most suitable delineation. All this is happening due to lack of decision making power of our politicians. They lean on India, China or America to make decisions for Nepal. Until and unless our politicians are well educated and could make their own decisions...— Aashish Adhikari, BBS IIIrd Year, Shanker Dev Campus, Putalisadak
Without everyone’s agreement, provinces should not be finalised. And the various incidents outside Kathmandu Valley indicate that people are not happy with the delineation. Late king Prithivi Narayan Shah united Nepal with so much effort and hard work, but now politicians are trying to divide people in the name of provinces instead of uniting them. This is all happening due to the lack of educated politicians in Nepal.— Subeksha Shrestha, Grade XII, Birgunj Public College, Birgunj
Nepal should be a secular country and should not be divided into provinces. Nepal should remain as a whole and the country should be without religious discrimination. This will help create harmony and peace among people. However, the politicians are discussing and fighting for provinces instead of working on fulfilling the basic needs of the people which can be done through income generating sources and developing the country’s infra-structure.— Urmila Pulami, Grade XII, Harion Manakamana College, Sarlahi
