PM Koirala reaches Tikapur to take info on Aug 24 carnage

  DHANGADHI: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala along with the chiefs of three security agencies reached Tikapur of Kailali district on Saturday morning to take information about the August 24 Tikapur incident. They reached Tikapur on a Nepal Army chopper at around 10 am today. Eight police personnel including SSP Laxman Neupane and a two-year-old child were lynched by an angry mob in Tikapur during a protest demonstrated by pro-Tharuhat cadres. READ ALSO Only 8, including 7 police and a child, killed in Kailali clashes, claims Far-Western Regional Police Office According to Chief District Officer Mohan Chapagain, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet district authorities to assess the situation in Tikapur. The District Administration Office (DAO) has relaxed curfew from 5 am to 3 pm in Tikapur today in view of the arrival of the prime minister. Likewise, the curfew has also been lifted in Dhangadhi today. Chapagain informed that PM Koirala will return to Kathmandu today itself. 'I will leave no stone unturned to take action against the culprits,' he said, adding, 'Innocent should not be punished.'
