Kathmandu, September 29 Nepal U-19 team registered a six-wicket victory over Vijay Dahiya Cricket Club in their practice match at the St Stephen’s Cricket Ground in East Delhi on Tuesday. Nepal captain Raju Rijal invited the hosts to take the first strike and bowled them for 170 in 47.4 overs. In reply, the Nepali team raced to 172-4 in 25.4 overs. Nepal made a mediocre start with openers Sandeep Sunar and Sunil Dhamala scoring 31 runs in five overs. After the fall of Dhamala (14), Shankar Rana (17) and Sunar added 33 runs for the second wicket. Opener Sunar then added 69 runs for the third wicket with skipper Raju Rijal. Sunar scored 54 off 62 balls with nine fours, while Rijal scored 45 off 53 balls. Aarif Sheikh (16) and Rajbir Singh (seven) took the team home adding 19 runs for the unbroken fifth-wicket stand. Himank, Ajay Ahlawat, Amrit Pal Singh and Avinash Thapa took a wicket each for the home side. Earlier, Vijay Dahiya were not comfortable in front of Nepali bowlers. After Jalaj (11) with 15 runs on board, opener Vivek Rana and Amit Poonia added 40 runs for the second wicket before Prem Tamang sent the latter (22) back to the pavilion. Rana and Sawant Singh added 46 runs for the third wicket, which was their highest partnership. Rana top scored for the team with 45 off 78 balls, while Poonia made 22 and skipper Priyanshu Vijayram made 20 off 23 balls. Dipendra Airee was the pick of the Nepal U-19 bowlers taking three wickets, while Prem Tamang and Dipesh Shrestha claimed two wickets each. Sushil Kandel, Kushal Bhurtel and Sandeep Lamichhane grabbed a wicket apiece. The Nepali team is currently in India to prepare for the ICC U-19 World Cup Qualifiers to be held in Malaysia from October 13-23.
