Syangja declared open defecation free zone

SYANGJA: Syangja district was declared the open defecation free zone by organising a formal programme in the district headquarters on Saturday. Minister for Industry Som Prasad Pandey made such announcement at the function. With this, 32 districts in the country were declared the open defecation free zones. Lawmakers Kamal Pangeni, Mukti Pathak, Ganesh Man Gurung and Teku Nepali also attended the programme. On the occasion, the speakers said that declaration of open defecation free zone is the gesture of civilisation and a step in maintaining sanitation. Different districts are making the announcement of open defecation free area after ensuring the access of all people to latrines as the government has set the target to provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) coverage for all by 2017.
