BIRGUNJ: The Birgunj-Raxual border point, which was remained closed for the past 129 days due to sit-in by the cadres of agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front, has opened on Friday morning. The border, however, was obstructed after a couple of hours. It has been learnt that trucks laden with goods that entered from Raxual had reached the Birgunj Customs Office this morning. Rupesh Jha, In-charge of the Inaruwa Police Post, said that five trucks loaded with goods had entered Birgunj via Miteri Bridge and seven empty Indian trucks have left Birgunj for Raxual today. Taking advantage of less number of protesters at the sit-in venue, local businesspersons opened the check point for one hour this morning. After Chairman of the Youth Alliance Ishwor Yadav came to know that local entrepreneurs had opened the check point, a team led by him blocked the border again.
