According to a health bulletin issued by the hospital, Acharya’s pulse and blood pressure were stable. Neurologically Acharya is more alert although he has persistent right-sided weakness and speech deficit, the hospital said in its bulletin. “CT scan done late yesterday was satisfactory in that blood clot size and hydrocephalus have not expanded further,” the hospital said. The hospital said its management strategy for today was to start oral feeding, aggressive physiotherapy and repeat CT scan to monitor the size of blood clot and hydrocephalus. According to Acharya’s aide Jivan Ale, the NC leader’s condition improved today. “When we asked him if he recognised his visitors, he nodded his head in the affirmative,” Ale said, adding the NC leader had, however, speech deficit and right-sided weakness. Ale said doctors told the family members that Acharya would recover without requiring a surgery. Doctors said he will have to remain in the hospital for at least 96 hours’ observation and if his condition did not improve, they would would consider performing a brain surgery.
