KALIKOT: Two boys of Kumalgaun in Kalikot district were reported dead due to an unknown disease on Monday noon. The deceased have been identified as Dipendra Biswokarma (9) and 12-year-old Niranjan Bishwokarma of Kumalgaun-1. The boys were taken to local shamans after they had complained of suffering from headache, fever and dizziness, two days before. Only when they grew seriously sick with such symptoms Dipendra was rushed to the local health care centre while Niranjan was kept at home, according to Dr Subash Sharma, the chief of Primary Health Centre, Kumalgaun. Dr Sharma said that the symptoms should be studied and informed to the World Health Organisation to examine the disease. The similar symptoms have been surfaced in six other locals, among whom only two are undergoing treatment. Since the District Hospital is far away from the village where the mysterious disease broke out, a team of health officers were sent to the village with medicine, informed Dr Shankar Lohala, Chief of District Public Health Office, Kalikot district. This time around last year also, an unknown disease had taken toll on the villagers in Sipkhana VDC of the district.
