Five held for misappropriating diesel

BANEPA: Police today arrested five people along with a tanker for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of diesel from Kavrepalanchowk. Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Bidur Kumar Thapa, said that police arrested three people along with the tanker (Na 4 Kha 2555) while they were returning after emptying the fuel at the Panauti-based Pashupati Plywood Factory. Police said they had brought the diesel via Raxual for the Bhaktapur-based Maheshwori Petrol Pump. Similarly, two people were arrested in connection to this case from Banepa, added Thapa. The arrested have been identified as Santosh Shrestha from Jalbire of Sindhupalchowk, Raj Kumar Shrestha from Suryabinayek of Bhaktapur, tanker driver Surya Lama, helper Krishnahari Lama and Raj Kumar Koirala from Manahari of Hetauda. As per the preliminary investigation of Police, they sold the diesel on a higher price to the plywood factory. Superintendent of police, Rajeshnath Bastola, informed that they would be booked under the Black-Marketing (Prevention and Control) Act. In addition, they have also seized the diesel and kept at the Area Police office, Banepa.
