Ailing boxer gets help

KATHMANDU: Nepal Boxing Association (NBA) on Thursday handed over the financial assistance to former boxer Indra Bahadur Rana. Rana, the bronze medal winner in the eighth South Asian Federation Games in Kathmandu in 1999, has been suffering from intestine cancer for the last eight months. General Secretary of NBA Deepak Gurung handed over Rs 51,000 to Rana for his treatment. President of Lalitpur District Boxing Association and 1984 SAF Games silver medallist Ram Awale provided Rana with Rs 15,000, while 2010 Asian Games bronze medallist and vice-president of Kathmandu District Boxing Association Deepak Maharjan handed over Rs 10,000. Likewise, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum contributed Rs 3,500. The ailing boxer thanked the helping hands and said the amount would be a great help in his treatment.
