Pokhara, April 16 Nepal APF Club defeated defending champions Nepal Police Club 2-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the fifth Manakamana Cable Car Pokhara Cup Football Tournament here today. Ranjan Bista scored twice in the space of three minutes in the departmental derby at the Pokhara Stadium. After a goalless first half, APF opened the scoring in the 59th minute when Bista found the back of the nets and scored another three minutes later. Bista was named the man-of-the-match. APF will now take on the winners of the match between Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club and Rum Pum Jhapa-XI. APF coach Janak Singh was happy as the team made the first appearance in the last four. “We were ousted from the first round in the previous two editions and this time around we were able to win the second-round match,” said Singh. “Credit goes to the players as they regrouped in the second half. In the first half we were off mark as the boys gave a lot of miss passes, but they were a different side in the latter half,” he added. “We will keep the momentum going in the remaining matches as well,” said Singh. NPC coach Birat Krishna Shrestha blamed his goalkeeper and defenders for the loss. “The defenders made mistakes while give back passes and we conceded the first goal because of poor performance from our goalkeeper,” said Shrestha.
