KATHMANDU: Students of MBA — Seventh Batch of School of Management, Tribhuvan University (SOMTU) — organised  the third edition of 'Interaction with Achievers' on April 3 on the college premises, Kirtipur. Rajan Singh Bhandari, CEO of Citizen Bank International Ltd shared about his professional journey. Starting from the post of an assistant, he had become the head of different departments at Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), serving for 26 years. His career didn't stop then and there, after resigning from NRB in December 2006. He became CEO of Citizen Bank International Ltd in January 2007. And Bhandari, who believes in morality, said it's up to the students to idolise someone — either a person with bad conducts or the one with good morals. Corruption and nepotism have flourished in Nepal which has pushed the country several decades backward. And criticising the malpractices in Nepali organisations, he highlighted the need of corporate governance for economic growth. Bhandari, who served as the president of Nepal Bankers' Association (NBA), motivated students to develop entrepreneurial skills and create jobs within the territory of the country. Though our education system values grade more than students' knowledge, Bhandari urged students to focus on sustainable learning so that they can build their competencies. Before wrapping the interaction session, Bhandari answered students' queries related to merger and acquisition, foreign-exchange reserves and women empowerment. Meanwhile he pointed out that time had come to talk about men empowerment. He asserted that women are equally competent and they should look forward to competing with men. The session was fruitful for students looking for their internships in banking sector. Students were inspired by Bhandari's talk. Such session benefits students to interact with personalities from different fields. Students are motivated to continue with similar session in the days to come.
