Kathmandu:
The Nepal Chapter of World Buddhist Sangha Youth (WBSY) was inaugurated by the Most Venerable Mugunuwela An-uruddha Maha Thero, WBSY president, who had flown in from Taiwan, at the Ashok-Charumati Stupa Vihar premises on September 21. WBSY is an organisation of young Buddhist disciples that has branches in over 10 countries. Based in Taiwan, the organisation primarily is involved in training disciples and giving them lessons in the Buddhist philosophy. The disciples will then propagate the message of peace throughout the world.
For the first time in Nepal, five disciples from the country’s remote areas have been given scholarship to study a special course on Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Ven Miao Yuen, president, Sakya Beneficence International Association wished for the success of Nepal Chapter. “I believe WBSY Nepal Chapter will play a vital part in propagating Buddha’s message of peace in the region.” According to Ven Kundan Lama, WBSY executive member, Nepal, the idea to set up WBSY was started in Nepal, but it got a concrete form in Taiwan in 2004.
