Theft on the rise in Dhangadi in recent days

Dhangadi, August 8 The number of theft cases in Dhangadi Sub-metropolis of Kailali has gone up of late. In a recent incident, as many as seven computers and a battery used in a school bus belonging to Dhangadi-based Saileshwori Boarding School were stolen. The thieves are on the run and a search for them is under way. Head teacher of the school Jagannath Jora said it was the second incident of theft in the school. Similarly, five computers belonging to Dhangadi Higher Secondary of the sub-metropolis were stolen. Theft of vehicle batteries, motorcycles, and cycles of government offices has also been reported in Dhangadi. Police said two-wheelers and helmets were stolen from the premises of Seti Zonal Hospital, Hatbazaar areas and LN Chowk, among other places. Meanwhile, victims accused the police and concerned authority of taking no initiative to control theft in the area. Police, however, claimed that they were actively working to curb such incidents. In-charge of Ward Police Office, Dhangadi, Bajir Singh Dhami, said they were holding discussions with representatives of the sub-metropolis office and zonal hospital on measures to control theft in the area. Dhami informed that a police patrol team along with cycles, civil patrol team and picket patrols were deployed in different places of the sub-metropolis. He informed that a police team deployed from his office had apprehended 82 persons involved in theft cases last fiscal.
