ILAM: The Ilam District Court handed down a jail term of 16 years to 22-year-old man, convicting him of rape of a minor girl in Ilam. A single bench of judge Nawaraj Dahal issued the verdict against Surendra Rai alias Suren of Sulubung-2 in Ilam district. The District Court convicted him of repeatedly raping the 12-year-old victim. As per the verdict, the victim would get Rs 75,000 as compensation from the perpetrator, according to Jagadish Bhattarai, the recordkeeper at Ilam District Court.
