RAJBIRAJ: The agitated United Democratic Madhesi Front has organised a torch rally in Saptari against the government's announcement to hold the local level elections on May 14. The rally that started from the premises of a Shiva temple walked around the city chanting slogans against the incumbent government for backing out of what they had promised earlier. The Madhes-based parties had been demanding the Constitution amendment before the poll announcement.

The UDMF would continue its protests until the Constitution amendment bill was passed in the Parliament, UDMF Saptari Coordinator Amar Nath Mandal informed.
Sadbhawana Party Senior Vice-Chairperson Mrigendra Singh Yadav said they would not allow the government to hold any election in the Tarai-Madhes region.
