KATHMANDU: Monday Kaji Shrestha of Nepal Police Club won the men’s singles kata gold in the Gautam Buddha 48th National Karate Tournament here on Saturday. Shrestha defeated Rohit Rai of Eastern in the final. In the women’s category, NPC’s Nirmala Tamang beat Tribhuvan Army Club’s Sanjita Magar to win gold. TAC won men and women team kata gold medals, while NPC came second in men’s and Eastern won silver in women’s category. In the men’s 84kg weight category final, NPC’s Badal Shrestha defeated Digambar Prasad Panta of APF, while TAC’s Mani Kumar Sunuwar beat NPC’s Sonam Lama in 50kg final. In women’s category, NPC’s Anupana Magar won gold in the above-65kg, while TAC’s Kushum Thapa came first in 45kg.
