Damauli, May 24 Elderly people, Dalit children, differently-abled people and single women are forced to queue up for hours in Damauli headquarters to receive their social security allowance in Tanahun. The allowance does not reach the hands of beneficiaries though the District Coordination Committee of Tanahun, its municipality office and offices at rural municipalities have managed to send the amount to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Ninety-year-old Gokuldevi Ranabhat of Myagde Rural Municipality complained that she was facing a lot of hardship visiting district headquarters Damauli to collect her social security allowance. “It is very difficult to stand in line for hours for the allowance,” Ranabhat bemoaned. Karna Bahadur Thapa, 73 of Deurali Rural Municipality said, “Though political leaders claim that Singha Durbar has arrived in villages in the form of local governance, the plight of rural marginalised people continues.”  Meanwhile, Fewa Development Bank Damauli Manager Kirtiman Rana said that as many as 1,100 elderly persons collected their social security allowances from his bank. Rana said elderly people received Rs 2,000, while single women received Rs 1,000.
