Republic Day marked in Belgium

Kathmandu, May 30 The Embassy of Nepal in Brussels organised a special programme to observe the 10th Republic Day on the premises of the embassy yesterday. According to a press release issued by the embassy, Ambassador of Nepal to Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union, Lok Bahadur Thapa, extended best wishes to all Nepali nationals living in the Benelux countries and also paid homage to martyrs who laid down their lives for the establishment of democratic dispensation in Nepal. Ambassador Thapa also highlighted major achievements after the establishment of Nepal as a federal democratic republic in 2008, including the election of the first ever constituent assembly, promulgation of constitution and ongoing local level elections, among others. He also called on all Non-Resident Nepalis living in Benelux countries to positively contribute to socio-economic development of Nepal. Speaking during the event, President of Belgium chapter of NRNA, Gangadhar Gautam, extended his best wishes to all Nepalis living in the country and abroad. Office bearers of NRNA, representatives of Belgium-based Nepali Organisations, businesspersons, media persons and Nepali nationals living in Belgium were present at the programme.
