Kathmandu, January 9:

President of the Nepal Bar Association, Shambhu Thapa, and president of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Bishnu Nisthuri, today jointly launched a book on notorious criminal Charles Sobhraj authored by journalists Ananta Raj Luitel and Bikash Bhattarai.

“Charles Sobhraj, known as a serpent around the world, is a man from whom people should learn,” Thapa said after launching the book titled Crime and Punishment of Charles Sobhraj.

“His way of life might be wrong but he has assumed international fame and success in his way,” he said. “If Charles Sobhraj is the same person who killed two foreigners in Nepal and who is serving prison term in the Central Jail, he is an expert in his subject and there are many things people can learn from him,” he said.

FNJ chief Nisthuri lauded the work of the journalists. “It is a matter of pride that Nepali journalists have specialised in their beat and are able to write a book about the same.”
