KATHMANDU, MARCH 13

Rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces today.

According to meteorologist Govinda Kumar Jha from the Weather Forecasting Division, this rainfall is the result of a combination of local winds and the partial influence of westerly winds. With pre-monsoon activities now in effect, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is anticipated in the afternoon, while the weather will remain generally clear at night.

Since Wednesday evening, light to moderate rainfall has occurred in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. However, the Division has stated that no rain is expected tonight, as the weather system causing the rainfall has moved through Gandaki Province and exited via Koshi Province.

It is worth noting that the weather has remained cloudy in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, over the past few days. Consequently, air traffic in the country has also been affected by the adverse weather conditions.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport, both domestic and international flights were put on hold in the sky for a period on Wednesday afternoon due to low visibility."
