Rajbiraj, January 20:
The members of the District Development Committee, Saptari, have started a door-to-door campaign aimed at increasing the general voter’s awareness about the upcoming municipal elections.
“Lets Vote and Save the Nation” is the main slogan of the awareness programme carried out with the participation of the DDC members.
The programme kicked off from Ward No-5 of Rajbiraj Municipality of the district yesterday.
Under the programme, a municipal election monitoring committee has also been constituted, with the DDC Saptari area member Shambhu Prasad Yadav as its convenor.
The Committee carries the responsibility of publicity in order to increase participation in the election, said DDC Chairperson Muktinath Mandal.
As independent elections is the foundation of democracy, election is inevitable for a stable democracy and that all the people must fully participate in democratic practices, he added.
The residents of the municipality are eagerly looking forward to the elections and their enthusiasm has been increasing as the election date draws closer, said the Committee Convenor Yadav. Likewise, DDC member Sanjaya Mishra said internal competition within the parties has increased for selection of candidates for the municipal elections.
People are supreme in a democracy and the people’s mandate is the result of the elections, said Ramakanta Yadav, also a DDC member.
