Kathmandu, November 6 Nepal Karate Federation informed it was all set to organise the Samjhana Laboratory 50th National Karate Championship at the National Sports Council covered hall from November 8-10. The federation said all the preparations for the championship was over and they were ready to host the event which will also serve as the selection tournament for the national team. Tournament coordinator Deepak Shrestha informed that the event was rescheduled because of the technical issues. The event was originally scheduled for November 9-11. The tournament features a total of 15 weight categories — eight in men’s section and seven in women’s section apart from individual and team kata events. A total of 184 karatekas from  three departmental teams — Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club  and Nepal APF Club — and five regions will compete in the event. The  men’s section includes below-45, below-50kg, below-55kg, below-60kg,  below-67kg, below-75kg, below-84kg and above-84kg weight categories, while women karatekas will fight in  below-40, below-45kg, below-50kg, below-55kg, below-61kg, below-68kg and  above-68kg categories. The 23 gold medallists of the tournament will be selected in the national team. Title sponsor of the tournament Samjhana Laboratory Clinic will provide the NKF with Rs 850,000 as well as ambulance services during the competition.
