KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 8

Domestic airlines have agreed to sell tickets below the approved airfares following Prime Minister Balendra Shah's directive and intervention by Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Khadak Raj Paudel.

The move follows complaints by the general public that airlines had increased fares ahead of the major festive season. PM Shah had expressed concern over the issue, prompting the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to hold discussions with representatives of domestic airlines on Thursday.

According to CAAN, the airlines agreed to sell tickets at rates lower than the approved fares and publish information on the reduced fares on their respective sales platforms.

CAAN Director General Mukesh Dangol said the airlines had agreed to make tickets available below the approved fare ceiling and ensure that information on the fares is accessible through their ticketing platforms.
