POKHARA: Candidates in Constituency-2 of Kaski district are now busy canvassing with metropolitan standard development as the major agenda as it is purely a metropolitan area. Despite being declared a metropolitan city, many wards falling under the constituency are yet to see infrastructure development. Hence, candidates seem to have tapped the same issue, says Sahadev Poudel, a local. With three constituencies, there are a total of 255,452 voters in Kaski and of them 70,651 falls under Constituency-2. And it seems candidates from the Nepali Congress and left alliance will be the major competitors for the House of Representatives seat from this constituency. Devraj Chalise from Nepali Congress and Rabindra Adhikari from left alliance are in the fray for the December 7 elections. Since filing their nominations, candidates have been flocking the village and settlements with the agenda of development construction, says Pokhara-17 voter Ramesh Subedi. Stating that the wards of the Pokhara metropolitan city that fall in the rural regions need immediate development, Subedi even the urban areas lack good road, sanitation and other essential infrastructure.
