Kathmandu, December 13 The government of Japan has provided a mobile clinic car to Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital located in Siraha. At a programme organised here today, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa and chairman of the hospital, Dr Upendra Mahato, signed a contract to this effect. The grant assistance of Rs 6.5 million is funded under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects. A mobile clinic is a specialised car manufactured by a Japanese company and comes with basic medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment of patients. The car contains a variety of medical equipment for performing basic surgeries. On the occasion, Ambassador Ogawa said the Japanese Embassy has believed that this project will contribute towards improving medical services and help save lives of the people living in the south-eastern plains of Nepal. He also expressed confidence that this gesture of cooperation would help further enhance the bilateral relationship between Japan and Nepal. Dr Mahato said the hospital would support the development of a model village and bring quality and accessible health care to one of the least developed regions in Nepal. Mahato had established the hospital in commemoration of his mother, who lost her life due to lack of medical facilities in the area. The hospital provides different services free of cost or at a minimum cost to financially and socially disadvantaged people.
