Discussion is being held regarding achievements gained so far in the health sector, remaining works, and challenges, in the meeting organised at the initiative of the Health Ministry.

According to the Ministry, 80 per cent of the budget in health sector is invested by the government, while 20 per cent investment is made by donor agencies. Nine national-level development partners have been carrying out activities in collaboration with the Ministry.

Inaugurating the review meeting, Health Minister Deepak Bohara said that the Ministry has always been committed toward providing quality health services to the people.

'People will now receive health services from provinces and local levels. So we are involved in making this arrangement,' Minister Bohara was quoted as saying in Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

He added that there will be revision in new health policy along with the health insurance act to facilitate basic health care services to all the people.

Similarly, Health Secretary Dr Pushpa Chaudhary said that human resources and budget management have become a challenge at a time when the country has adopted federalism.

Chaudhary said, 'It is difficult to provide quality health services through the existing human resources. We need additional human resource and budget.'

Likewise, Chief of Policy, Plan and International Cooperation Division under the Health Ministry, Dr Shree Krishna Giri, said that although many health indexes have been fulfilled, there are more works still to be carried out.
