• Performance of college worsening due to negligence

Siraha, February 7 Students of Mirchaiya-based Bramhachari Damodarananda Janata College padlocked the campus indefinitely demanding regular classes in Siraha on Wednesday. Earlier, campus chief Sanjaya Kumar Sah had pledged to hold a meeting with students and resume regular classes. But the classes didn’t resume as promised. So irate students padlocked and vandalised the college by throwing out all furniture from the campus chief’s room and locked it. Agitating student Arbinda Sahani said they had to resort to protest as the administration didn’t heed their appeal for regular classes in the past. Similarly, another student Rabin Sah accused campus chief Sah of running the campus arbitrarily and playing with the future of hundreds of students. They argued that they were deprived of subject-wise teachers. “This time we are not going to compromise until our demands are addressed,” claimed Laxmeshwor Kapar. “The academic and administrative performance of the college is degrading day by day due to gross negligence on the part of the campus chief. Fee hike beyond Tribhuvan University’s policy, recruitment of teachers without competition and lack of subject-wise teachers are our major concerns,” said the agitating students. Mirchaiya Municipality Mayor Shrawan Kumar Yadav said he would try his best to settle the problem as the demands of the students were genuine. “If the college administration doesn’t address their demands, I will consult the concerned stakeholder and settle the problem soon,” he pledged. Meanwhile, Campus Chief Sah said he couldn’t attend the meeting as he was taken ill and added that a some students were carrying provocative activities under the influence of some people.
