Kathmandu, March 25 The Royal Nepal Golf Club today concluded its Centenary Celebration and remembered the works of past presidents and captains along with other contributors including sponsors and media. Minister Adhikari also handed over the letter of appreciation to The Himalayan Times and Avenues TV. Minister Adhikari also gave away the prizes to the winners of the Centenary Golf Tournament that concluded on Sunday. Prakash Ban won the title, while Sandha Rai was the winner in women’s section and Sadbhav Acharya bagged the junior section trophy. Also, Hridesh Singh received the Green Jacket as the winner of the Club Championship, while Gopal Chitrakar was the winner of the ‘B’ Division. Minister Adhikari, RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha, vice-president Tashi Ghale, past president Manindra Shrestha, former captain Prabhakar SJB Rana among others unveiled the special souvenir published to mark the Centenary. RNGC President Shrestha said the oldest club of the country was under scrutiny from the government and the golfers always fear of being displaced from the club. “The club has reached 100 years but unfortunately we do not have a course of our own. The land we occupy belong to Civil Aviation Authority Nepal and Pashupati Area Conservation Trust and we might get displaced any day,” said Shrestha. “The RNGC is not just a golf course but it has added to the beauty to the city and we also gave shelter to thousands of people during the major earthquake in 2015,” Shrestha added.
