Application submitted by Advocate Surendra Bhandari demanding security after receiving threats from Chief Justice Gopal Prasad Parajuli.

KATHMANDU: Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Govinda KC issued a press release on Monday threatening to stage hunger strike for the 16th time if the National Medical Education Bill was not passed immediately as per the nine-point pact signed with him. Blaming Education Minister Giriraj Mani Pokharel for the non-passage of the bill during the budget session, Dr KC said the minister was trying to serve his vested interests by opposing the nine-point agreement and had no moral ground to continue as education minister. He also urged the government to take action against Tribhuvan University Vice-chancellor Tirtha Khaniya against who the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led commission had recommended action.
