MELAMCHI: One person died on the spot and more than a dozen were left injured in a tipper accident at Bhainse in Sindhupalchok district.

Identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet, District Police Office, Sindhupalchok said.

The incident occurred when the vehicle (Ba 4 Kha 9017) overturned on the road when it was trying to pass through a bend by overtaking another vehicle, said a local Ram Bahadur Tamang. The tipper was en route to Barhabise from Yanglakot of Jugal Rural Municipality in the district.

The injured were rushed to Khadichaur for treatment. The driver has been absconding since the accident.
