Seven diagnosed with dengue in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: Seven people have been diagnosed with dengue in Kanchanpur district.

Pathology test was conducted on the blood samples of 52 suspected patients at Mahakali Zonal Hospital recently and seven reports came out positive.

According to hospital lab technician Mahesh Dutta Joshi, of the infected, two had returned from India and remaining others were locals.

The mosquito-borne tropical disease is caused by dengue virus which is transmitted by the bite of a female mosquito of the Aedes aegypti species and such mosquitoes remain active during daytime.

High fever, vomiting, muscles and joint pain, formation of blue marks on the body, and skin rashes are the symptoms of dengue. The disease is curable if timely treated.

Likewise, a patient of kala-azar has been found at Mahakali Zonal Hospital.
