KATHMANDU, APRIL 6
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rebounded on Monday, gaining 83.33 points or 3.11 percent to close at 2,760.02 points, a day after a steep decline. The NEPSE had plunged by 105 points on Sunday.
The sensitive index, which tracks Class 'A' stocks, rose by 3.12 percent, while the float index, measuring actively traded shares, increased by 3.28 percent.
All sectoral indices ended in the green, led by hydropower with a gain of 4.59 percent. Other major gainers included finance (4.03 percent), development banks (3.63 percent), investment (3.30 percent), hotels and tourism (3.24 percent) and banking (3.18 percent).
Despite the recovery in the benchmark index, daily turnover declined to Rs 10.92 billion from the trading of over 25.15 million shares of 345 companies through 124,093 transactions. The turnover had stood at Rs 12.38 billion on Sunday.
By the end of the trading day, total market capitalisation reached Rs 4.692 trillion.
In terms of individual stock performance, 264 companies posted gains, while three declined and one remained unchanged. Among the gainers, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Bhujung Hydropower Limited, Ridi Power Company Limited and National Hydro Power Company Limited hit the upper circuit limit of 10 percent.
