POKHARA: At a time when Pokhara has been witnessing a rise in the number of paragliding accidents, yet another incident involving a Chinese national on Thursday has raised serious concerns over safety standards imposed on the adventure sport. Forty-five-year-old Tang Furong sustained injuries after the paraglider Mahendra Nepali lost balance over the glide and crashed on a tree while hovering over skies of Sarangkot. Furong was immediately rescued and rushed to Metro City Hospital, Pokhara for treatment, said police. The Nepali came out safe from the crash. A month ago, a Romanian national who was on a solo paragliding trip lost his life after diving straight into Phewa Lake. Likewise, a Russain national was also killed after he crash-landed at Sarangkot.
