Annual conference of NESON begins today

Kathmandu, April 3 Second International and the Seventh Annual Conference of Neurosurgeons organised by Nepalese Society of Neurosurgeons is due to begin here from tomorrow. On the first day of the three-day conference, participants will attend World Federation Neurosurgical Societies’ Educational Course being conducted in the country for the first time. Organising a press meet here today, NESON President Dr Mohan Raj Sharma informed that the one-day course would be very helpful especially for young neurosurgeons to update their knowledge on neurosurgery. “The course is very expensive and it requires very experienced and skilled doctors, infrastructure and technology,” said Dr Sharma. As many as 10 neurosurgeons from Australia, China, Portugal, Japan, India and Austria, and four neurosurgeons from Nepal will be presenting their working papers during the conference. “It is a great opportunity for Nepali health practitioners to benefit from the course. Presentations and experience sharing will help us to learn the latest technology and practices in the field of neurosurgery,” said secretary of NESON Dr Prabin Shrestha. As many as 23 neurosurgeons will present their papers and 150 neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuro nurses and physiotherapists from 12 countries will participate in the conference. Likewise, two young neurosurgeons will be honoured with ‘Young Investigator Award’ in the conference.
