DHANGADHI: Government of Sudur-Paschim Province has started facing criticisms after it prioritised feasibility study on operation of waterways in the coming fiscal year, especially after being unable to efficiently implement programmes of the current fiscal. Provincial assembly of the province, on Sunday, shared the plan while making policy and programmes public for the coming fiscal year. As per the plan, priority has been laid on bringing water transportation into operation on big rivers of the province on the basis of a feasibility study report. The idea has become a subject of criticism since the province government has not even been able to bring Province Bus Service into operation for which budget had been allocated this fiscal, pushing its implementation to the coming fiscal year. Parliamentary party leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Rana Bahadur Rawal was of the opinion that Sudur-Paschim Province government made the policy and programmes public by including plans that were more imaginary than real. Likewise, former minister Bhakta Bahadur Balayar said that the programmes introduced by the province government were unsuitable geographically. President of Doti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Narendra Khadka too lamented that the province government did not consult with the stakeholders while introducing programmes for the coming fiscal. Meanwhile, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of the province, Jhapat Bahadur Bohara said that the upcoming budget would be introduced as per the policy and programmes that have been made public. He said, priority would be given to increasing the economic growth rate, boosting self-employment, industrial development, among others. In the policy and programmes made public by the province government, continuation has been given to majority of incomplete projects from the current fiscal.
