KATHMANDU, MARCH 9
The Pangboche Ama Dablam Youth Club have signed an agreement with Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) to manage mountaineering activities on Island Peak and Lobuche Peak. The agreement was implemented from March 1, 2025.
As part of the agreement signed on February 9, the Ama Dablam Youth Club will oversee the installation of fixed ropes, manage guides, and verify climbing permits issued by the association. The club will also maintain a record of Nepali guides involved in mountaineering and ensure that trekking companies provide medical insurance, helicopter rescue coverage, and accident insurance for guides before issuing permits.
Climbing activities will be canceled if guides do not have insurance or if foreign climbers lack a valid mountaineering permit, the Ama Dablam Youth Club stated.
To facilitate climbers, the Ama Dablam Youth Club has already installed 800 meters of new fixed rope from Crampon Point to the summit on both Island Peak and Lobuche Peak as of March 7, according to Sonam Dorje Sherpa, chair of Pangboche Ama Dablam Youth Club. .
We extend our best wishes to all Nepali and foreign climbers for the spring climbing season, Chair Sherpa added.
