Prime Minister and Chancellor of Far Western University (FWU), KP Sharma Oli, announced that Geta Medical College in Kailali will soon be upgraded to a medical university.
Speaking at FWU's fifth convocation and senate meeting today, the Prime Minister emphasized that elevating the institution to university status has been his priority from the outset. He urged the college management to remain assured that the transformation into a university will materialize.
On a different note, he stated that a dry port will be constructed in Dodhara-Chandani alongside the establishment of the Daiji Chhela Industrial Corridor.
He further mentioned that during his previous tenure as Prime Minister, he had raised the issue with his Indian counterpart regarding the construction of a border bridge along with another bridge connecting the Parshuram area of Dadeldhura. He pledged to take the necessary steps for the construction of a concrete bridge in the region.
Professor Dr. Satpal Singh Bisht, Vice-Chancellor of Soban Singh Jeena University (SSJU) in Almora, Uttarakhand, India, attended the convocation as the Special Guest.
A total of 372 students graduated on the occasion, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees in various disciplines, including humanities and sociology, education, management, engineering, and agriculture.
