Dhading, June 12 The long-standing drinking water problem in Jwalamukhi Rural Municipality, Dhading, has finally ended with the completion of a drinking water project. Earlier, the locals of Chainpur, Dharapani, Dandathok and Kotthok of the rural municipality were compelled to walk for two hours to fetch water. Now, with the completion of Chainpur Drinking Water Project the locals are elated as they can now get water at their doorsteps. The project has started distributing water through pipeline to every household. Minister of Drinking Water and Sanitation Bina Magar had inaugurated the project at a programme organised in the rural municipality on Monday. Drinking Water and Sanitation Development Fund Committee Nepal had started constructing the project through a non-governmental organisation Focus Nepal with financial support of the World Bank in 2013. The project was badly hit by the 2015 earthquakes, which delayed the construction. The project finally came into operation after six years. As many as 161 households of the village have directly benefited from the project which was brought into operation through water lifting system. Taps have been connected with meters in every household. Chainpur Drinking Water Project Consumers Committee Chairman Chandra Prasad Chhatkuli said the water was brought from Tuhure Khola. He said that three reservoirs were built on the premises of Annakanya temple. Secretary of the committee Tanka Chhatkuli said Rs 13,246,216 was spent on the project. Locals also donated labour worth Rs 24 lakh and the local government and different organisations also supported the project.
